1. Who we are and accepting these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and us about your use of the MileStone web app and website (together, "the service"). By using the service you accept these terms; if you don't agree, please don't use it.

Age. You must be at least 16 to use MileStone. To buy Pro you must be 18 or older, or a parent or guardian buying it for someone aged 16 or 17. If anyone under 18 buys Pro, we will refund it when asked. You confirm your age yourself: we don't check it.

Date of birth. The optional Life Line asks for your date of birth. It stays in your browser and in any export file you save, wherever you choose to keep it. If you turn on Pro sync, it's also part of your encrypted sync copy, which we can't read. We never see your date of birth, and MileStone doesn't send it to the AI you plan with. Removing the Life Line deletes it from this device and from your next sync copy. Older encrypted sync copies are replaced as you keep syncing, and any export file you saved earlier still contains it.

2. The service

MileStone is a goal and habit planner that runs in your web browser and can be installed on your phone or computer as a web app. Your goals, habits, check-ins and progress are saved in your browser's storage on your device. We don't run user accounts and we don't keep a readable copy of your planning data. If you turn on Pro sync, an encrypted copy is stored with our hosting provider; it is encrypted on your device with a passphrase you choose, which we never receive. Everything that reaches our servers or our providers is listed in our Privacy Policy.

Not medical, financial or professional advice. MileStone helps you plan and track goals and habits. It doesn't diagnose, treat or give medical, mental-health, financial or other professional advice. If a goal involves your health (for example cutting down or stopping alcohol or other substances), talk to a doctor or another qualified professional first.

3. The free plan

The free plan includes 3 goals, 3 habits, 3 milestones per goal, 3 steps per milestone and 5 active to-dos. It has no time limit and needs no account or payment details. It is also your chance to try MileStone before buying. If we change what the free plan includes, we'll say so on the Site at least 30 days before the change, and it won't affect anything you've already paid for.

4. Pro purchases and licence keys

Prices. Pro is sold as $9 USD a month or $79 USD a year. Prices include any tax Lemon Squeezy collects. Prices may change for future purchases; a price change never affects a licence you already hold.

Age. See section 1.

Who sells it. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Link, LLC, formerly Lemon Squeezy LLC) as reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy's own terms and privacy policy also apply to the payment.

Your licence key. After purchase you receive a licence key by email. Activating it in the App unlocks Pro in that browser or installed app. One key can be active in up to 3 places at a time (3 activations); each browser, and the installed app, counts as one. You can deactivate one to free a slot. Keep your key safe; it's your proof of purchase. Don't publish, share or resell it.

The App checks your key with our licence service when it opens. It sends only the key and an identifier for that activation, never your planning data. Apart from loading its own files from our website, the only other things the App sends are a request to its own address to check for updates and, if you turn it on, the encrypted sync copy (Privacy Policy, section 4).

If we stop offering Pro, we'll give at least 30 days' notice where reasonably possible, by email through our payment provider to the address you bought with, and in the App, then stop all charges and refund the unused part of your current period.

If something happens to me. If illness, incapacity or death stops me running MileStone, I or my legal representative will stop all charges and refund the unused part of your current period.

Nothing in this section limits your rights under the consumer laws where you live.

Questions or a problem with your purchase? Email info.codemilestone@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 7 days.

5. Subscriptions

Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the price shown at purchase until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Manage subscription in the App (which opens your Lemon Squeezy customer portal), from the link in your receipt email, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. If a subscription ends, the App returns to the free plan; your data stays in your browser and stays usable within free-plan limits. If you go back to Free, nothing is deleted. Goals and habits over the free limits become read-only, and you can't add more milestones, steps or to-dos beyond the free limits.

Questions? Email info.codemilestone@gmail.com.

6. Refunds

Our Refund Policy forms part of these terms. In short: the free plan is the trial; we don't give change-of-mind refunds; billing mistakes are always fixed; Lemon Squeezy may also refund under its own terms; and your consumer rights always apply. To ask for a refund, contact us (info.codemilestone@gmail.com) or Lemon Squeezy (through your receipt email or its customer portal); either works. If you ask us, we arrange any refund you're entitled to through Lemon Squeezy. If Lemon Squeezy's own buyer terms give you fewer refund rights, our Refund Policy and these terms still apply between you and us. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the consumer laws where you live. Questions? Email info.codemilestone@gmail.com.

7. Licence and acceptable use

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use MileStone for your own goal and habit planning. You agree not to:

8. Your data and the copies you keep (please read)

Your data is saved in your browser, so you are responsible for keeping your own copies. It can be lost through things outside our control: clearing browser data, uninstalling the browser or app, losing the device, private browsing, or the browser deleting site storage (Safari can do this after 7 days without a visit). Apart from the encrypted sync copy if you turn sync on, we don't hold your data, so we can't recover it.

MileStone has a built-in export (Settings → Your data). Export regularly and keep the file safe. The export file holds your main planning data (goals, milestones, steps, habits, to-dos, check-ins, spend entries, profile and contacts); it doesn't yet include General notes, Recently deleted items, or pace and activity history. On the free plan, importing an export file bigger than the free limits loads only what fits: extra goals and habits come in locked, but milestones and steps beyond 3 and open to-dos beyond 5 are left out (the export file itself isn't changed, so you can import it in full after upgrading). We can't recover lost local data because we never had a readable copy. If you use sync, another synced device or the encrypted cloud copy can restore it, but only with your passphrase; we can't reset a forgotten passphrase.

9. AI-assisted planning

MileStone's AI planning works with your own AI assistant (such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini): you copy a prompt from the App, run it in your AI tool, and paste the result back. The copied prompt includes your goals and, unless you switch it off in the App, your profile (which can include health, money and family details you entered). Check the prompt before pasting it. That conversation is between you and your AI provider under its terms and privacy policy; MileStone doesn't send anything to an AI provider itself. Check an imported plan before relying on it; AI output can be wrong.

10. Third-party services

MileStone relies on services we don't control, including Netlify (hosting, licence checks and encrypted sync storage) and Lemon Squeezy (checkout, payments and licence keys). If one of them has an outage or changes or ends its service, parts of MileStone may stop working for a while. We will tell you on the Site and by email through our payment provider to the address you bought with, and in the App where we can; we will restore, move or replace the service where reasonably possible; and if you lose paid time we will extend or refund it. If Pro can't be restored, section 4 applies. Your planning data stays in your browser throughout, so keep exporting it. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the consumer laws where you live.

11. Availability and changes to features

MileStone needs an internet connection to load. We work to keep it available and updated but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve or change features. If a change significantly reduces what Pro does for you, section 15 applies, including your right to a refund. If we ever stop offering the service entirely, we will give the notice in section 4, and your data will stay in your browser and exportable.

12. Intellectual property

The MileStone app, design, brand and content belong to us. These terms give you a licence to use the service, not ownership of it. Your data is yours; we claim no rights over the goals, habits and notes you create.

13. Your consumer rights and our liability

Your consumer rights come first. Our goods and services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and you may have similar rights where you live. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights or remedies.

Apart from those rights, we provide MileStone as it is, and we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or goals not achieved, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the total amount you have paid us for MileStone Pro. This limit doesn't apply to our liability under the consumer guarantees, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Your data is saved on your device, so please export it regularly (section 8).

14. Suspension and ending

You can stop using MileStone at any time. We may deactivate a licence key where a purchase is refunded or charged back, where a key is being shared or resold, or where these terms are seriously breached. Any refund, full or partial, ends Pro on that licence key. Except for refunds and chargebacks, or where the law or a security need requires immediate action, we will tell you what we think is wrong and give you a reasonable chance to fix it first. Your local data is never touched by any of this; it stays in your browser.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms only for a valid reason, such as a change in the law, a security need, a change by a service we rely on, or a new feature. Each version is dated and numbered, and past versions stay available on the Site. We will tell you about any change that is to your disadvantage at least 30 days before it applies, on the Site and by email through our payment provider to the address you bought with, and in the App where we can. If such a change materially reduces what you paid for, you can tell us before it applies and we will refund the unused part of your payment: for a subscription, the unused part of the current period.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and disputes go to the courts there. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country, and you can also bring proceedings where you live if those laws allow it.
